Paint sheen is the luster or shininess of the paint. It directly influences the cleaning ability as well as affects the look of the end result. If using a darker color, the lower the sheen the better. Higher sheen will show the defects of your sheetrock. As a general rule, the sheen for main areas should be flat or matte. Trim and doors typically are satin or semi-gloss.
Typically three estimates are advised. However, personal recommendations are your best guidance. Free estimates are common. Meeting with a potential contractor is the quickest way to size up who will be working in your home. Trust your instincts when selecting a contractor. The lowest priced bid is not always your best bid. Ask lots of questions.
Wallpaper is like fashion and color. It changes. Currently, (2022) wallpaper is on the upswing. Textured wallcovering is big right now. Accent walls, and photo murals are my most common installs.
Colors are trendy. They last 4-5 years and become outdated. They follow the clothing line trends. When watching decorating television programs you need to know that show was filmed at least 1-2 years ago and featured colors may be on the decline. If you stay with neutrals, you will always be safe and not get caught up in trends.
